Villa Girasole

Lenno, Lake Como, ITALY
Full renovation of an existing structure from the 1960's built into the hillside of the beautiful Balbianello peninsular around a mature chestnut tree. We approached the design by enhancing the original concept of the property by articulating the horizontal terraces. This was done by removing the external walls and replacing them with large sliding glass windows. The internal partitions were removed to create a series of fluid spaces all with spectacular views of the lake. The finishes on the floor and timber ceiling flowed continuously from inside to outside to blur the barriers between internal and external spaces almost doubling the usable size of the property.
